Powder Coatings
November 13, 2010
At McGill, one of the many steps in our manufacturing process is the application of paint coatings & finishes. Because the basis of our products is aluminum, our coating options have always been somewhat limited – until recently.
New to the scene of paint coatings & finishes is the process of powder application. This new form of application is growing in popularity for a variety of reasons – the most favourable reason being that it is far more "green" than its liquid coating alternative.
Ideally, we would be able to standardize our coating process so that all orders are completed in the greenest way possible. But in many cases, some of the problems associated with the powder process may outweigh the benefits.
In the following article from Construction Canada Magazine, some of these pros and cons of powder application are investigated:

Ultimately, the decision to choose powder or liquid coating depends entirely on the needs and desires of our customer and their particular project, and we at McGill are pleased to be able to offer both options.
